Hatha Alignment Flow in Addis
In our 90-minute session, I will guide you through a sequence that is inspired by the precision of BKS Iyengar combined with the heat building flow-with-the-breath sequencing of Vinyasa. This includes sun salutations, standing poses, forward bends, twists, hip openers, backbends, and inversions balanced between the power of breath.
The first half of the class is yang – focusing on building muscle, coordination and strength. The last half of the class is yin – focusing on improving flexibility through stretching, increasing circulation in the joints and connective tissues.
Classes include asana (postures) and pranayama (breathing techniques). I emphasize the yogic principle of ahimsa (non-violence) in all classes, encouraging students to explore their edge, while listening to their bodies and respecting limits. Sessions are suitable for all levels, and I offer modifications where needed.
I teach in Old Airport on Sunday (11.00-12.30); Wednesday (17.30-19.00). Classes are held around the corner from the Embassy of Norway. Here is the google link to the location: yoga in Old Airport
I teach in Megenagna on Tuesday & Thursday evening from 18.30-20.00. Classes are held around the corner from Top View restaurant in Megenagna. Here is the google link to the location: yoga in Megenagna
Before You Go
Avoid meat, heavy foods, or slow-digesting foods with a strong taste two hours before class. I recommend that you arrive five minutes prior to class start time. I have some spare mats at the studio if you need to borrow. Otherwise, bring mat and water.
Purchasing a class pass is the most cost-effective way to go! With a class pass, you receive 5 classes for the price of 4 sessions of yoga in Addis. A class pass is 800 ETB ($30). Individual classes are ETB 200 ($7.25). You can purchase at the studio or online via PayPal
